Tight Dribbling into Line-Breaking Pass
Share
🔧 How to set up the activity:
- Set up a central cone for the starting point and a gate (two cones) 5 yards ahead.
- Add a slalom of cones to one side for tight dribbling.
- Place mannequins (or poles) around the edge of the penalty area to represent defenders.
- Two attackers start beyond the mannequins with a goalkeeper in goal.
- One feeder (coach/parent) with a ball 10 yards behind the starting cone.
âš½ Activity:
- Feeder passes to the central player, who must take a clean first touch and turn towards the dribbling cones.
- Player dribbles quickly through the slalom cones to simulate breaking pressure.
- After clearing the cones, the player plays a line-breaking pass between the mannequins to an attacker.
- Attacker times a run in behind to receive the ball and finishes on goal.
- Reset quickly for next repetition, rotating attackers and feeders.
✅ Coaching points:
- Emphasise a sharp first touch and body shape to face forward immediately.
- Encourage quick, controlled dribbling through the cones – keep the ball close.
- Focus on timing the line-breaking pass and attacker’s run for maximum realism.
